About Khao Legal
A practice built on listening before advising
Khao Legal was founded with a single conviction — that the people who come to us deserve to feel heard before they receive any advice.

How Khao Legal came to be
Khao Legal opened its doors on Yowarat Road in the Samphanthawong district of Bangkok with a particular focus in mind — family matters that the legal system is equipped to address but that rarely feel straightforward to the people living through them.
The practice was established by lawyers who had each spent several years in broader civil and family law work before deciding to concentrate on a narrower range of matters. That narrowing was deliberate. Domestic protection orders, stepparent recognition, and multi-generational estate arrangements each require a particular kind of attention — not just technical knowledge of the relevant statutes, but the patience to understand what a family is actually trying to achieve.
The name Khao — meaning hill or mountain in Thai — reflects the practice's character: steady, unhurried, and not easily moved by external pressure. Families face enough uncertainty without their legal adviser adding to it.
Since the practice opened, the team has worked across Bangkok and coordinated with courts, civil registration offices, and relevant authorities throughout the country. The caseload is intentionally kept at a scale where each matter receives the attention it deserves.
Our Mission
To provide attentive, confidential legal counsel on family matters — making the legal process comprehensible and navigable for each client without pressure or unnecessary complexity.
Our Approach
Each client's matter is considered on its own terms. We do not rush consultations, do not offer pat assurances, and do not treat any family situation as routine — because to the people in it, it never is.
Our Values
Discretion, transparency, and steadiness. We speak plainly about what the law can and cannot do. We do not overstate outcomes, and we do not leave clients uncertain about where their matter stands.

How We Work
Professional standards we uphold
Thai Bar Association Membership
All legal advisers at Khao Legal are registered members of the Lawyers Council of Thailand, holding current practising credentials.
Client Confidentiality Protocol
All client information is held in confidence under strict internal protocols. We do not share case details with any third party without the client's explicit direction.
Thai Civil and Family Law Compliance
All advice and representation is grounded in current Thai civil law, the Civil and Commercial Code, and family law statutes. We follow procedural requirements of all relevant courts and authorities.

Each matter is reviewed by at least two members of the team before submission or court appearance. This reduces the risk of procedural oversights in documentation-heavy cases.

Original documents and certified copies are stored in a controlled environment. Digital files use encrypted storage with access limited to the assigned legal team.
Client Communication Standards
Clients receive written summaries of consultations and are updated at each meaningful stage of their matter. We commit to returning calls and messages within one business day.
Family Legal Expertise in Bangkok
Thai family law and what it means in practice
Family legal matters in Thailand are governed primarily by the Civil and Commercial Code, supplemented by various procedural rules that govern how courts and civil registration offices handle specific types of applications. Understanding the framework is one thing; working within it effectively — particularly where personal circumstances are sensitive — requires a different kind of care.
Domestic protection proceedings, for instance, involve specific documentation requirements and procedural steps that vary depending on the circumstances of each case. The nature of the evidence available, the relationship of the parties, and the urgency of the situation all affect how the matter is best approached. At Khao Legal, we assess each situation individually rather than applying a single fixed process.
Stepparent legal recognition involves coordination across multiple parties and authorities — civil registration offices, courts, and in some cases, other family members whose cooperation is needed. Understanding where delays are likely and how to address them can significantly affect how smoothly a matter progresses.
Estate matters involving several family members, land held in traditional arrangements, or businesses operated informally across generations benefit from a careful review before any restructuring is attempted. Identifying what exists, what is legally clear, and what needs formal documentation is the first step in any long-form estate coordination.
Khao Legal brings practical knowledge of these matters to each client conversation, framed around the specific circumstances of the family in front of us rather than generalised summaries of the law.
